With no experience, you better leave this to a mechanic, you know nothing about honing a cylinder do you ? Forgetaboutit. How to change a piston and piston ring on a 97 honda prelude?
The knocking noise is most likely too much bearing clearance between the piston rod bearings, and the crankshaft. Oil on the spark plug could be caused by bad valve stem seals or excessive piston ring wear. I suspect you will need to remove the engine head to properly diagnose this problem. Unfortunately, there is no quick fix.How to change a piston and piston ring on a 97 honda prelude?
If I were you I would seriously consider just getting a known good engine to swap in. Replacing one piston/ring set is going to require complete dis-assembly of the engine, and you will run the risk of getting dirt in it, etc. I would just look for another engine if you plan to keep the car. Also, if one piston is bad, it's probable that others are not far behind.
