89 chevy s10, changed spark plugs and wires okay. But engine is racing and loud..?

Any suggestions? It was running really rough before we changed them, but it didn't seem to be racing. The service engine light is still on as well. How do we find out why it is on?Thanks in advance!89 chevy s10, changed spark plugs and wires okay. But engine is racing and loud..?
Sounds like a vacumn leak if it just started after you changed the plugs and wires. Make sure you didn't pull any vacumn hoses loose anywhere.89 chevy s10, changed spark plugs and wires okay. But engine is racing and loud..?
try getting an oil changed but you may need to get a new head gasket.89 chevy s10, changed spark plugs and wires okay. But engine is racing and loud..?
scan it for free at most auto pts stores..advance,,zone,,oreilly,,,,did u change cap and rotor....chevys eat them up..[ i have a 99 s 10]...without scan it could be any of 20 problems...should not b loud if exaust is ok89 chevy s10, changed spark plugs and wires okay. it could be a lot of things. Try this pull the baterty cable off for about 5 mins or so then put it back on this will reset the ECM and will most likely fix the problem89 chevy s10, changed spark plugs and wires okay. But engine is racing and loud..?
its probably either the throttle position sensor or the idle control sensor, both of them has something to do with the idle.89 chevy s10, changed spark plugs and wires okay. But engine is racing and loud..?
Nobody turned up the idle before, to compensate for it running poorly because it needed a tuneup, did they? If so, then you need to turn the idle back down now.
