How do i get to spark plugs on a 1996 chevy lumina 3.L v-6?

I have a 1996 checvy lumina and need to change the plugs and spark plug wires. The engine is a 3.1L v-6. The 3 fron plugs and wires are easy to see and get to. But the other 3 in the back I can even see them or put my habd behind the clutter to get to them .. What do all I need to take off to get to the spark plugs and put new wires?? I need help please.And please dont some write to go by a chilton overhaul manual!!!!How do i get to spark plugs on a 1996 chevy lumina 3.L v-6?
take one bolt from each engine mount(by the radiator, right in front of you when you open the hood)..if there are cross braces running from each fender to the radiator frame, loosen one end and swing them aside...on top of the engine there is a place to insert a pipe or tire iron (to tip the engine forward) tip it and have a bolt ready to insert into the mount,(to hold the engine securely)....then you have to work mostly by feel...good luck !!



Oh yeah...while you're at it,check to see where your PVC valve is..mine is on the back side of the engine where the plugs are, so you might as well replace it while you have the engine tippedHow do i get to spark plugs on a 1996 chevy lumina 3.L v-6?
If you have access to a lift and put the car up in the air and then take a close look from underneath at what you are dealing with....the back 3 are just tough to replace ...good luck and lots of patience..How do i get to spark plugs on a 1996 chevy lumina 3.L v-6?
Some tools, patience and ingenuity. On those cars you can not reach them from the bottom. They are way too up there to reach. I used to climb on the engine carefully and try to reach on the back. Break the torque loose and back up by hand. Install the same way, by hand with the socket so you can reach and a small extension. If you can get like 2 full turns by hand you are on the thread if not you are cross threated. Is all by feeling. Try to tight them by hand, so you know they are seated right and finish with a 1/4 of the ratchet.

the 2 front engine mounts in front of the radiator on top( they look like dog bones) have to be removed. just take out 1 of the bolts. you'll see they have another hole reinstall the bolt in that hole. there should be a dogbone hooked to your engine , just loosen the bolts and pull the motor forward and you have plenty of room.
