Do anybody have a V6 Engine.........?

where 3 spark plugs are at the top and 3 are under the engine? I personally have a 2000 Dodge Stratus. Mechanic tells me its gonna cost $200 at the least for spark plugs and wire change. Three off my spark plugs are at the top and three are under the engine. He says its gonna take some work to get the bottom three. How much does a Spark Plug change and wire change cost about for a V6 2.5L ?Do anybody have a V6 Engine.........?
It pains me to think that automobile manufactures build cars this way, but then it's all based on what customers want, a roomy interior and a powerful engine. This means that they have to stuff a size 12 shoe into a size 8 box.

Almost all of the transverse-mounted V6's are this way (a PITA to work on) I'd have to agree with the majority of the other answers. Most cars these days don't need a tune-up for at least the first 100,000 miles, but when they do need one it's gonna cost you.

My advise is to shop around to local (and well-known mechanics) get estimates. Ask friends or people in town for recommendations on who they would use.

This is not intended to be personal, but I'm going to tell you the same thing I've told both my daughters: When you call or visit a shop that you're not familiar with, DON'T act stupid! Refer to parts by name, not %26quot;That thingy in the corner behind the driver's tire is making noises.%26quot;

Go to or call the shop and ask point-blank questions:

%26quot;I need a price on parts and labor to change my spark plugs and wires.%26quot;

A good shop will only perform the work you ask for, but he will also recommend work that should be done in the near future, and show you why it should be done. Once again...Common sense.Do anybody have a V6 Engine.........?
it is going to cost about $305 to get the spark plugs out because he will have to take some parts out of the the engine to reach itDo anybody have a V6 Engine.........?
Call around and get at least 3 different quotes... That's about the best advise I can give you. I always do it and sometimes I use the quotes again the lowest bidder and say that I found a cheaper price... bla... bla... bla. And they usually lower their price for you. Good luck.Do anybody have a V6 Engine.........?
Assuming that you actually need a tune up, that is about what the charge is going to be ...it is not like older cars where the spark plugs were readily accessible. Many newer cars come with 100,000 mile maintenance on spark plugs....but when you need to do it, you'll spend about the same amount as 2 or 3 %26quot;traditional%26quot; tune-ups.Do anybody have a V6 Engine.........?
on the dodge 2.5l v6 the back 3 plugs are under the upper intake manifold

the manifold has to be removed to get to themDo anybody have a V6 Engine.........?
Is a cheap price, we charge 250 on laborDo anybody have a V6 Engine.........?
It is not the bottom of the engine , it is the right side but to reach those three spark plugs it is necesary to remmove the intake manifold, it is about one hour of extra labor, I advice to put platinum spark plugs, they might last up to 100000miles before your next tune up, plugs $40.... wires $110 original from dealer, $140 labor ,(the mechanic on the gas station), dealer$280 you are looking at $300 to $400Do anybody have a V6 Engine.........?
Yes it,s sad but true on that engine. You have to remove the upper intake manifold plenum in order to access three of the spark plugs.Your best bet would be to call a few places and check on some prices but unfortunately it is not an easy engine to tune up. But then there are plenty of vehicles on the road today that are the same way many of them even worse that,s just the nature of today's front wheel drive transverse mounted engines.
